We got two of our Serán wrap figures installed in the gym. This one is a basketball player with quite the dunking skills.

This is my failure print. The first image was righ

This is my failure print. The first image was right before I pulled the gel plate off the paper. The second was my charcoal drawing and the third image was my failure. This was an acrylic paint gel plate monotype. My other one came out much better.

Thought I’d try my hand at monotype printmaking

Thought I’d try my hand at monotype printmaking with a gel plate. I used acrylic paints instead of ink. It was an interesting process, but there was a high failure rate for me anyway. This print of our cat came out nice. But the lilac image I tried after this did not come out sadly. I think I’ll stick to ink. One thing I liked was that I could do was transfer a charcoal drawing onto the plate. Anyone tried gel plate printmaking? What are your thoughts?

Created an example for students using linocut. This project was so much longer and more difficult to bring to life with 40 plus students. But I have to say some of the students really started to love this process. I feel like this was a total success if I was able to inspire printmaking in a few humans. I will have to do this again with students.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this. This year has been a lot more work than I knew. But it has been so worth it. I’m about to finish my first full year of teaching art and I am proud of myself and my family for supporting me on this journey. These little monotypes are some of the many demos I have put together for students this year. I’ll share more when I get some time. Hopefully it won’t be another year before I get more time.
